After a stellar workout during the IE Rising Stars ID, where his dynamic present athleticism with emerging strength in his frame earned him an invite to the SoCal Rising Stars Game, Moreno took it to another level on this day. Having now twice run a 6.6 range 60-yard sprint, it is true CF long-term speed while showing an accurate 78-82 MPH OF arm, which has both full distance carry and the ability to locate it on one-hop to both 3B and home plate to be a real weapon throwing the ball from the OF. His LH swing is geared for all fields, hard contact with a direct path into the zone, and leverage to the middle of the field while showing loft to the pullside that can grow into potential HR power in the future. Moreno hits the ball solidly at a high rate, 78 MPH avg EV with a peak at 82 MPH on the day, with 100% of his contact going in the air. The consistency of what he does during batting practice translates into the game as he collected a hard opposite field single, stung a one-hopper back to the pitcher in a 2K count, and then doubled into the LCF gap in his final trip to the plate with the pitching machine running. Dynamic with his present athleticism to profile a long-term future in the middle of the OF grass while adding in a top of the order offensive profile with intrigue impact potential as he continues to mature, has Moreno presenting the type of profile that is going to be a fun one to follow through his high school career in the Inland Empire area.

Max Moreno, Beaumont Senior High (CA), 2030 Positional Profile: OF/2B Body: 5-6, 145-pounds. Hit: LHH. Wide, balanced lower half. Upper half stays postured with hands above shoulders and bat resting on rear shoulder. Short, quick one-step stride. Gets into launch position effectively, generating good bat lag through the zone. Short one-hand finish. Arm: RH. OF-82 mph. High 3/4 arm slot. Progressing arm back path. Quick release with optimal ball trajectory throwing home. Defense: Smooth, efficient fielder. Approaches ball at a calm pace then triggers a quick, effective crow-hop. ATH: 6.61 runner in the 60.

Moreno is more compact in his present build, but does showcase some emerging strength across his frame that will develop more as he matures through high school. What the LH hitting OF does possess at present is a twitchy, athletic profile that shows up across every part of his game. An already dynamic runner with burst off the line, ability to build and maintain speed, Moreno posted a 6.62 60-yard sprint time and looks comfortably able to run faster in the future as his frame matures. It's a CF defensive profile with athleticism, but he backs it up with an arm that has a chance to be a true weapon even in the center of the diamond, with 82 MPH OF velocity and throws that show low carry with accuracy to both third base and home plate during the workout. I really like the way he swings the bat; it's a clean, athletic stroke with a direct path that comes from a balanced base and works to the middle of the diamond. Moreno shows a present hit over power profile, but there is plenty of reason to project future impact with the twitch in his profile. His max EV was 90 MPH, but hits the ball at good angles with a 63% sweet spot rate and averaged 80.6 MPH across both rounds of batting practice. While still young in his baseball career, there is enough to the foundation with Moreno to see a long-term impact as a CF defender who hits near the top of a lineup in the coming years.
