The righty got the start for the season opener for the Eagles and he did not disappoint going five strong innings finishing with nine strikeouts against one walk. The 6’5” George came out firing, working mainly with the fastball and slider but mixed in the changeup primarily to lefties. The fastball (85-87 mph) showed some life at the plate at times while working around all quadrants of the zone. The pitch rides into righties with some tail away from lefties. Command came-and-went early before settling down in the second inning. He mixed eye levels with the fastball and used it to set up the above average slider. The slider was more sweepy early before flashing a hard, tight shape that flashed late tilt. He worked the pitch in the 73-75 mph range and held its velo and shape into the fifth inning. George’s changeup flashes very real potential at 76-78 mph. He threw it primarily to left-handed hitters and it flashes sink and some fade. George is very athletic for his size and hits in the seventh hole for the Eagles where his left-handed swing shows signs of being a true two-way player.
