Blanton turned in a productive performance in Cathedral Catholic’s win, driving in two runs while squaring up a pair of balls right on the nose. One came on a base hit, while the other was a line drive to left-center that was struck well but turned into an out. He also beat out a fielder’s choice that plated a run during CC’s late-inning rally that helped them pull out the victory. The left-handed hitter continues to stand out for his ability to consistently find the barrel and use the whole field. Blanton swings aggressively but maintains control through contact, allowing his bat-to-ball skills to play against a variety of pitches. He first stood out last spring at the Boras Classic, and in a deep Cathedral Catholic lineup, he can sometimes go overlooked, but the tools are real. Defensively, he adds value with a 91 mph arm from the outfield (clocked at the San Diego Preseason All-State), rounding out a profile that continues to trend upward.

Positional Profile: OF/3B Toolsy OF with sneaky pop in the bat that projects well along with present hit tool.
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Athletic, lean frame with strength already present.
Hit: LHH. Relaxed with athletic posture. Hands start loose and slightly off the shoulder, allowing the barrel to work freely. Load is compact and efficient, with hands staying quiet while the lower half gathers. Stride is controlled and lands on time, keeping the head steady. Works through the zone with a tight, slightly uphill path, staying on plane for a long window. Barrel accelerates late, creating whip through contact. 70.6 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 99 max exit velocity, averaged 92.3 mph. 371' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-91 mph. Strong. Throws show carry and true flight, capable of handling any OF spot with confidence.
Defense: Moves aggressively but under control. Gets into throwing position quickly and stays athletic through the gather. Profiles in all three OF spots with enough athleticism to handle reads and routes.
