William Necessary, Notre Dame (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: LHP/1B A true 4-pitch profile with starter upside. Fills the zone with the FB and keeps hitters off balance with OS.
Body: 5-11, 175.1-pounds. Lengthy frame with room to fill. Long levers.
Delivery: Athletic and loose delivery. A high leg kick while breaking the hands. Backside stays over his shin as he rides the slope. Lands slightly open, simultaneously firing the hips. Strong lead leg block whilst getting over his frontside.
Arm Action: LH. Loose arm action with a slight stab at the back. Arm gets up on time, as front foot strikes. Quick arm, throwing through the target.
FB: T83, 81-83 mph. FB rides vertically. Stays behind the ball well, creating upward deception. T2137, 2041 average rpm.
CB: 68-68 mph. A bigger CB that has tight and late break. Spins the ball well and has feel in the zone. T2760, 2682 average rpm.
SL: 68-70 mph. Sweepy SL, tunneling off the FB. Late horizontal break with feel throwing backfoot vs RHH. T2650, 2592 average rpm.
CH: 75-75 mph. CH fades well with slight drop. Works off the FB, offsetting RHH. T1622, 1622 average rpm.

It was a strong bullpen session from Necessary who showcased a strong four-pitch mix, throwing from a deceptive high 3/4 arm slot that added life and angle to his arsenal. His FB (4-seam and 2-seam) sat 78-80 mph with consistent arm-side run and sink, locating effectively to his arm side with a top spin rate at 2014 rpm. The SL worked 65-68 mph with 2500+ spin, showing tight, late break and the ability to bury it down and in the zone as a potential put-away pitch in two-strike counts. His CB sat 64-65 mph with spin peaking at 2576 rpm, one of the event’s best, showing depth and shape, while the CH (74-76 mph) displayed late fade and drop with spin rates between 1487–1530 rpm, rounding out a polished mix.
