5/12/21

2021 Alec Willis, right-hander from Regis Jesuit (Minnesota commit)  pitched six innings of no-hit baseball vs. Ponderosa. It would not be enough to get the win as Pondo scored four in the top of the 7th against No. 1 ranked Regis Jesuit for the upset.

Willis threw 90 pitches and sat in the 91-93 range on the day, topping out at 95. He spotted up his fastball on inside and outside half of the plate. Changeup and slider are continuing to develop as plus pitches. Alec’s big frame and rising development put him front at center as one of the top prospects for the 2021 MLB Draft in the state of Colorado.

6/01/19

Uncommitted 2021 right-hander Alec Willis of Regis Jesuit came in to close the game and had a dominant outing to secure the 2019 5A State Championship. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-hander's fastball was 89-91, touching 92 from high 3/4. Fastball has good movement. Arm side run and has ability to sink it. Curveball was 72-73, and change was 78-79. Willis is jumping up the boards. The projectable RHP should be in demand due to his young arm coming into college because of the deep pitching staff at Regis Jesuit. Power Five prospect.

4/20/19

2021 RHP Alec Willis of Regis Jesuit came into pitch one inning. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounds already with a big frame and has more room to grow. Willis comes from a high 3/4 slot with good arm side run. Fastball touches 87 and lives 84-85. Square to the plate and inline. Can come across body which creates the arm side run. Above average curve is 68-70 with the same arm speed as fastball. Change is 70-72 with gradual fade. Ball has late, sinking action proving it hard to be barrelled.
