Blake is a solidly built catcher who is an outstanding receiver who is a fearless thrower who shows a good arm, good footwork, blocks well and has the ability to throw well to all bases, he demonstrates excellent   leadership in handling the pitching staff.He shows a disciplined approach at the plate and has the ability to handle the bat extremely well. Blake shows good power and the ability to make hard contact on a consistent basis.

Top Catcher in the state. Young’s catch and throw skills are outstanding. Great transition and accurate arm. Strong leadership skills and manages innings with consistency and tempo. 

Blake showed good power on a home run to left field and then later in the game a two-run double. The UCSB commit's swing is compact and he has a sound approach at the dish. His hands work well and he has the ability to hit balls hard to all parts of the field.

Hit: Right-handed hitter with shoulder width base and minimal lower half load with a simple leg lift.  Weight distribution is 50/50 at launch. Hands consistent and remain near back shoulder. Barrel has some movement, but gets to repeatable, upright position. Aggressive rear side acceleration. Would benefit with development of balance throughout swing...very athletic. Path has some intentional lift and purpose.  Demonstrated bat speed and has established himself as a top follow.
Power: Can see potential for power as he progresses.  
Arm: 70 mph out of the crouch with pop time of 1.91. Great catch to release!
Defense: Good tilt positioning and movements blocking. Confident hands with quick feet and progression into throw.  A top 2022 catcher to follow in Colorado.

A strong, stocky, 5-foot-10, 185-pounds, right-handed hitting catcher. Keeps it simple at the plate with a balanced setup, short leg kick timing trigger, hands load back and drop in an athletic fashion, smooth rhythm throughout. Hands are quick to the zone with a level barrel path, taps into strength of frame to generate hard contact, even on mishits. Good defensive catcher, receives the ball well, puts his body out there to block the ball.

Coming in at No. 7 is uncommitted 5-foot-10, 180 pound C/3B Blake Young. Young has the chance to come in as a sophomore and start for a highly competitive Mountain Vista program. Young is athletic behind the dish, and already controls the game. Had in-between inning pop-times of 1.98 and 2.01. At past events was 1.90 off a coach on throw downs at 72 mph. Has gap to gap power with bat speed through the hitting zone. Moving forward in the always tough Continental League, Young has a chance to be one of the top catchers in the state. 

Uncommitted 5-foot-9, 170 pounds. At the plate utilizes a wide, balanced stance, short stride. Load is straight back, and bat stays in the hitting zone with bottom hand finish. Lower half and upper in sync. Line drive hitter to both gaps. Ball jumped off bat in live round and Young has good power potential. Exit velocity was 83 mph off a tee. Carries himself with confidence behind the dish. On throw downs has quick feet and strong arm for age. Pop-times were consistently under 1.95 with one 1.90 off a coach and was accurate to second with a 72 mph arm velocity. Showed soft hands with receiving and blocking, and has good lateral movement to both sides. A catcher you'll want to follow in Colorado's 2022 class.
