A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average

Stanley showcased a FB with slight ASR at times sitting 90-91, T92. He relied heavily on a cutter that sat at 85 on both sides of the plate, and showed poise and more competitiveness in the zone than earlier in the season. Delivery also shows sign of progression with less spine tilt that will lead to more repeatable mechanics and a more consistent arm slot.
4/01/22
Tough 1st inning giving up five Runs to a high energy Cherokee Trail offense. Stanley settled in for the next four innings and looked great. His “hold’ gave Douglas County a chance to climb back into game and collect a 12-11 victory. Stanley's FB 89-92 and continues to climb the velocity ladder. Attacking delivery. Can see refinement in his delivery. CB 74-77 and throws it with ++arm speed. Highly competitive.
2/20/21
The Wichita State commit and top-ranked 2023 in Colorado, Stanley was all business in his approach to this event. He sat 88-89 mph with great tempo and a repeatable delivery. The Douglas County HS right-hander continues to trend upwards with strength and his overall development. Top five average spin rate at the event, 2303 RPM and his top fastball velo was 89.62.
5/25/20
Set up similar to stretch position. Small side step transitions to plant for rhythm. High leg-kick to balance. Up/down leg-kick with strong rear side drive to stride. Max has strong glove side leverage and great push through on stride. Creates strong rotational acceleration with a quick attacking style and quick arm. Falls to first base side. Fastball was 84-85 mph in the zone. Slider was 62-67 mph with late break and potential for more, although he slows arm slightly. Changeup was 70-72 mph. He attacks with the pitch and there's good arm speed. Max is one of the top arms in Colorado with big upside as he develops strength. Repeatable deliver and attacking!

Max Stanley, Legend , 2023, RHP
5-foot-10, 165-pounds with confident, refined movements. Side-step transitions to pivot. High, balanced leg lift with controlled coil. Toe down. Strong athletic position. Kick out stride to delivery with open toe landing. Demonstrates push throw momentum with lead leg. Long arc, but quick arm and extended lead follow through. High ¾ release. Glove side creates very good torso rotation. Fastball sat 82-83 with average movement and command of the pitch. Curveball has good, late break at 67 mph and feel for strike zone. Changeup is 72 mph with great feel for the pitch pitch and arm speed was good. Great tempo and high ceiling. Would consider Max a top follow in the Colorado's 2023 class.
