12/16/17- Continues to fill out and looks to have added 10-15 pounds of muscle to an athletic, projectable frame. Defensively, he moves well with a feel for the position and sound all around actions in the middle. Offensively, he is balanced in the lower half. He can get rotational at times with a bit of a shouldered swing, but there is offensive potential and present bat speed. He showed the ability to consistently square the ball up hard from gap-to-gap in batting practice.
08/20/17- Smooth athlete. Switch hitting middle infielder. At the plate he has a longer path through the zone with a more segmented load with wide elbows. Worked better from the right side of the plate. On the mound featured a fastball that sat 84-86 mph while also mixing in a 68-70 mph curveball and 76-77 mph changeup. Projectable athlete who will continue to improve as he continues to add to his frame.
07/26/17- Athletic middle infielder standing in at 5-foot-10, 140-pounds with long limbs. Showed a good arm from across the diamond touching 83 mph. Could benefit from ladder drills to speed up his feet and staying low to the ground. Also showcased his versatility by making throws from the outfield that touched 84 mph. Offensively he used a leg kick trigger while working aggressively to the ball. Stayed on plane well throughout his swing. Could see jumps in all aspects of his game as he continues to fill out.
01/08/17- Stands at 5-foot-9, 135 pounds with a lean, athletic build. In the field he makes the plays, shows light feet, and the ability to come in on the ball. Shows athletic actions. At the plate, he has a lower hand set with a slightly open stance, level plane from the right side which resulted in consistent contact. From the left side he has a more open stance and shows good hand eye coordination with timing and rhythm. As Hogue continues to get stronger and mature, the ability to hit from both sides of the plate as a middle infielder will make him an interesting follow.
08/17/16- 5-foot-9, 125 pounds on a lean, wiry frame with some quick twitch. Makes the plays in the field. Stood out with a diving catch to his left while playing third base and another diving play while at shortstop. On the mound threw out of the high ¾ arm slot using a fastball that sat 80-81 mph with arm side run, a 64-65 mph curveball with some depth, and a 67-68 mph change up. Mixed up his pitches and threw strikes. Struck out two in his inning of work. Fields the ball off the mound well. Still room to grow.
