02/21/18- They physical outfielder has present strength in the frame and strength in the swing. This showed up with a grand slam home run in the sixth.
NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Powerful 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame, ran a 7.04/60. Offensively - effective load with inner knee rotation engages hips which generate exit velocity of 94 MPH, effortless swing, repeatable stroke, drives to middle third of the field, quick to the ball, brings bat through on level path with slight upper cut with full extension after contact. Hit two homeruns during game play. Defensively - smooth and graceful, confident body language, always seems to be within his comfort zone, accurate arm at 78 MPH. High end 2019.
NY All-Star Games (September 17, 2016)
Athletic build at 6-foot-1; 180 pounds. Recently moved from 3B to the outfield, the transition looked natural and easy. Showing off a much improved 60-time (6.95), his athleticism and bat will take him to the next-level. Offensively- Open stance; hands are loose with easy power at the plate showing balance throughout the swing, barrel stays in the strike-zone a long time with consistent ball-to-barrel contact. Pull side pop is evident; displayed a 92 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- Keeps arm action long from a high 3/4 position. Throws showed carry and accuracy; arm strength peaked at 83 MPH.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2015)
Judge stands with a strong build, standing 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with a mature look for a sophomore. Offensively - setup is open and relaxed. Loads back on the back, strides to even, hands are strong and compact (94-exit speed) with a short path. Barrel gets flat early through the zone, full extension, one arm finish rolling some on his front foot. Defensively - from the corner position he stays behind the ball, using proper footwork and accurate throws from a shorter arm action. Pitching - Judge has shown dominance on the mound pitching varsity baseball for troy last HS season as a freshman. Works from a slightly closed delivery, belt high knee lift, hands track high around his ear with good separation over the rubber. Drives from a strong lower half, using a slighter shorter arm action than we have seen in the past, fastball was steady early on at 77-78 topping 80 mph (up to 85 last summer). Curveball sat 66-67 with some downward action - 12/6 break. Change up was hovering 68-69 with good arm side fade.
Eastern NY All-Star Game (September 13, 2015)
Stands at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, with an athletic body build. Defensively –  He has a smooth approach through the ball, with smooth, soft, quick hands, throws with a high 3/4 arm action, arm is strong across the diamond, plays through the ball nicely, and has accuracy on the target.  Pitching - On the mound, he uses a simple side step, balanced delivery, arm action is fairly clean and loose, throws with an over the top arm slot. He exhibits good command with a fastball max at 82 MPH. Offensively - At the plate his setup is relaxed and very balanced, short back tap stride, with a back load.  His hands are very compact and strong, swinging with some uphill tilt, with a high finish with extension through the ball.  Lots of high-end projection.
Capitol Region Open  (July 29, 2015)
Judge stands 6-foot-1, 182-pounds, with still room for growth.  We first saw Judge at the Future Prospects Showcase last July, and impressed our staff of scouts.  Right now, Judge looks more like a College Junior, instead of a High School Sophomore.  In a showcase loaded with some big upperclassmen bats, David put on an absolute hitting clinic, sending several pitches he saw over the left and center field fence.  He has tremendous bat speed, and power, evidenced by a 93mph exit velocity (top at the showcase).  He's a next level hitter right now, and only gets better.  Led him team to a sectional final last year as a freshman.
Futures Showcase (February 28, 2015)
One of the top performers in every category of our Future Prospects Showcase.  Will play Varsity for Troy High School this year as a Freshman. Judge stands 6-foot even and 175-pounds, with wide shoulders and an athletic build.  His body still shows room for growth.  Offensively- At the plate he has a tall and open stance.  With a small stride he glides back to even.  Hands start high and shows a nice downward plane towards the ball.  Showed some exceptional bat speed and power, evidenced by an (86mph) exit velocity with the wood.  Gets full hip rotation through contact.  Stays inside the ball, and ends with a balanced shoulder high finish. Defensively- In the field Judge showed good side to side movement, and above average speed.  Ran a (7.16) 60 yd dash.  Keeps his palm up and glove out front before receiving the ball.  Circles the ball well, and receives it out front.  Moves well through his shuffle, to a high 3/4 arm slot with carry.  Showed excellent arm strength for his age  (77mph).  Pitching- On the mound David showed a relaxed and smooth motion to a high 3/4 arm slot.  He starts with his hands high, and drops them with his side step.    Leg kick is slightly higher than his waist.  Uses glide to stride method.  Leads well with his hip.  Front hip stays closed until foot foot strike, Good rotation.  Ends up slightly over his front foot.  Showed next level arm speed with his FB (82mph) and cutter (76mph).
