9/25/21

Stetson Commit, 6-foot-3, 205-pound solid athletic frame. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 98 mph. (70.64 mph bat speed average). (22.21 mph hand speed average). Begins in a tall balanced stance with a slow rhythmic load, then uses a short controlled stride. Has electric bat speed, upward swing plane and high finish. He found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average in the outfield, he used momentum and arm strength to record throws up to 92 mph; had a quick clean exchange, consistent hands, and smooth footwork. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Had a high ¾ slot and a long quick arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. Solid on the mound, using a short arm action he showed quick arm speed from a high ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses some effort. Has even shoulder with an athletic balance point. Lands square with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 85-87 mph; shows control down in the zone and hard action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2125; Avg 2033). Throws a tight curveball (71-71) with slurvey action and around the zone control. (Max spin 1860; Avg 1860).

6/23/19

Athletic lanky frame at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds with room for growth. Short arm action with carry and accuracy on throws. Average hands with fluid footwork and clean exchange. Balanced setup with smooth load and short stride. Uses lower and stays balanced through swing with above average bat speed with 85 exit velocity. Line drive hitter with level bat path and fluid rhythm.

2/12/19

Very athletic and projectable 6-foot-1, 164 pounds. Defensively, the athleticism plays fairly well. Quick first step and shows lateral range. Could improve release, but hands are sound and overall solid defender. Offensively, he has a simple load and separation. Will see benefits from strength and maturity as the front side gets stronger. Clears hips well and hands work independently and level through the zone. Line drive approach currently, but bat speed and strength to see potential power in the future.

Griffis possesses a tall 6-foot-3 frame but at 180 pounds he holds the weight well and looks solid from the lower half up. He likes to use his size and length in the outfield as he can make a play on balls that most can’t. At the plate, Griffis sits in the backside and drives from the back hip. He has some pull tendency but his extension on the ball keeps him from hooking balls and he drives pitches to the pull gap with consistency.
