2021 Senior State Games: East Preview

Cayden Hatcher
PBR East Florida Regional Director

The 2021 PBR Florida Senior State Games kick off this Saturday and Sunday at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, the spring home of the New York Mets. The event will feature many of the top 2022’s competing for regional bragging rights through a showcase and three games of the two day span. This event is broken down by region, as players are separated into teams of North, South, East, and West Florida.

The 2021 Senior State Games is the second running of the event after an inaugural 2020 event. Last year’s event featured 3 players who were selected in the 2021 MLB Draft and 32 players who have since committed and are starting their college baseball careers now. This year we have another talented roster with committed and uncommitted players. We expect the stands to be filled with pro scouts and colleges to watch the Senior State Games.

Today, we will continue previewing the players who will be in attendance at the 2021 Senior State Games. We will break down the rosters by region, continuing with the East.

East Region

The East is another strong team of 2022s loaded with bats throughout the lineup. First on the mound, the East rolls with RHP
Ryan Slattery (Pitt), LHP Trey Wheeler (South Carolina), RHP Emil Bravo (Alabama State), RHP Maison Martinez (VCU), as well as uncommitted RHPs Tyler Toro, Jacob Crews, and Mathieu Voros.

Behind the plate for the East is Bethune commit Schyler Arroyo, Houston commit Samuel Hernandez, and uncommitted Lahiem Bell. The East features a loaded infield with Stetson commit Japhet Rosado, USF commit Stewart Puckett, NWFS commit Connor Fosnow, as well as uncommitted Simon Kohn, Kendrey Maduro, Jalen Hairston, Edian Espinal, and Danny Baez. Rounding out the East is the outfield featuring Bethune commit Cameron King, Stetson commit Evan Griffis as well as uncommitted Yahir Ortiz, Luis Morales, and Cadmiel Pompa.

The East brings talent on both sides of the ball and should be a tough matchup all around.
