10/12/18 - Tennessee commit. 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed infielder is a gamer and solid all around player. Defensively, he continues to put himself in the right positions in the middle and shows all around versatility and ability to play nearly every position on the field. Offensively, he works tall, simple and in rhythm. The lower half is strong ant the swing stays compact. CUrrently hit over power, but there is power potential. He has an advanced approach and the bat will continue to play at the next level.

10/11/18- Tennessee recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with a strong, athletic frame. Still some room to fill out. Defensively, he shows above average defensive actions and has a real feel for the position, playing with confidence and ease during gameplay. Shows a quick release with an above average arm across the diamond which is accurate and to the bag, topping out at 90 mph. Offensively, he has a simple swing with a toe-tap for his load, generating above average bat speed with quick hands through the zone, consistently squaring it up and driving the ball deep into the gaps with pull side pop during batting practice. Registered a 95 mph exit velocity in the cage. Ortega will continue to be a draft follow heading into the spring high school season.

07/28/18- Tennessee recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds on an athletic frame. Shows an above average feel for the position. He isn’t the most twitchy middle infielder, but he always is in the right position and makes both routine and above average plays. Offensively, he has a simple swing with present bat speed and feel for the barrel. Drove a ball back up the middle during gameplay, took second on the throw in. Overall, he is a gamer. The tools play up in game both offensively and defensively. Overall, he continues to make an impact and stand out and will be a potential draft follow for 2019.

05/20/18- Tennessee recruit, While the 6-foot-1, 195 pound shortstop stands out physically, apart from the plus arm and topping out at 94 mph across the infield, he doesn’t necessarily jump out in a pro-style setting. Although, it was a different story come game time. He consistently was in the right place both at second and short, showing surprising range and natural instincts to be in the right spot, playing with a great energy. The strong arm really plays in the game as he gets rid of the ball quickly and with carry. Offensively, he works with rhythm and is simple and compact. He stayed on the barrel during he game and shows some power potential. He showed the ability to stick at short, but will be a very interesting follow to see if the tools continue to play up in the game. Overall, he is a solid athlete who can be an above average defender and has offensive upside.
