OTHERS TO WATCH: Nathan Hickey (Providence School) and C Max Romero Jr. (Pembroke Pines Charter School, FL) provide some left-handed thump. SS Isaac Nunez (Lake Brantley HS, FL) may grow out of shortstop, but his hands work really well and he has advanced defensive ability. RHP Anthony Tomczak (North Broward Prep, FL) pitched mostly at 88-91 mph this spring, but touched 94 and has a high ceiling. LHPs Carson Palmquist (Riverdale HS, FL) and Paul Labriola (Cardinal Mooney HS, FL) are two projectable southpaws that could make jumps in the next few years. SS Christian Cairo (Calvary Christian HS, FL) helped lead his squad to another state title after seeing his stock rise last summer and fall. He has athletic actions at short and can handle the bat well. RHPs Kevin Martin (Westminster Christian HS, FL), Alejandro Torres (Belen Jesuit Prep, FL) and Allan Hernandez( Doral Academy Charter School, FL) all sit in the 88-92 range. MIFs Jorel Ortega (Spanish River HS, FL) and Pablo Ruiz (Forrest Hill HS, FL) have physicality and offensive upside. OF Grant McCray (Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) has seen his athleticism become more and more functional over time. LHP Ryan Pettys (Mosley HS, FL) worked at 87-89 this spring and has more in the tank. SS Vaughn Grissom (Hagerty HS, FL) came into his own on both sides of the ball this spring and got plenty of looks as Greene’s teammate. Catching Charles this spring was Doug Kirkland (TNXL Academy, FL), who has proven to be a true catch-and-throw threat with a plus arm. 3B Jeslyn Whitehead (Olympia HS, FL) is physical and athletic at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. He looks the part at the plate with balance and natural loft.
