3/21/19- Yordy Valdez was a name that first popped on our radar in the fall at Jupiter. He stood out as a twitchy, above average defender with some present bat to ball skills. Although, he was fairly undersized and still had a lot of room to grow and mature. To his credit, that appears to be exactly what he did over the winter break. Valdez looks to have put 10-15 pounds of muscle on and has not only improved the athleticism, but the added strength has pushed him to a plus defender that can stick at short and a bat with real upside. Vadez was definitely worth the look, as he stood out as an exceptional defender who has a natural feel for the position. He has a quick first step, rhythm and plus hands. Offensively, he is a switch hitter, who only hit from the left side on this evening, but has bat to ball skill and upside offensively. Valdez will be one to watch as he may continue to rise up draft boards.
10/20/18 - This was the first look at the switch hitting infielder and was a quality one over the week. He is a twitchy athlete and shows above average defensive actions, with a quick first step and quick and clean transfer. Offensively, he has present bat speed and some bat to ball skills. Is an interesting athlete who will be a follow in the spring.
