6’1” 235. Strong, thick bodied guy. Limited defensively to LF with below average arm that is barely playable. 4.4 runner from left side. Has big time power from both sides and can put a charge in it. Saw as LHH. Struggles with off speed and high velo. Swing can get long. If he runs into one he can hit it a long way. High risk, high reward. Value guy if can hit enough mistakes. See as 4th outfielder or guy off bench. Bat will determine everything. Draft value for me is to start thinking about him in rounds 7-10.
Gifted with quick-twitch strength at the plate, Anu is capable of driving the ball to all parts of the yard. The switch-hitter struggled in the batter’s box this series finishing 2-for-13 with one walk and three strikeouts. He did show plenty of bat speed with just a super quick flick of the wrists, but he spun off, quickly taking the barrel in/out of the hitting zone. He also continued to chase the fastball up and offspeed away, just as he did during my last look in the 2019 Cape Cod League. He’s an early count hitter who does not extend at-bats very often, as evidenced by five walks and 22 strikeouts in 91 plate appearances this season. Down the line from the left side the 6-foot, 235-pounder ran a 4.41 on a groundout to shortstop. He is the son of an Olympic sprinter and has run 6.50 sixties in the past. Defensively he’s been known to run it down in the outfield, but on this look Anu showed later reactions to the ball off the bat with near average arm strength from left field. A 16th round pick of Red Sox out of a Florida junior college in 2019, Anu will likely be considered in a similar round on Day Three this July.
Anu is an Orlando, FL native who has been drafted twice by the Boston Red Sox. First, out of high school in the 26th round and again in the 16th round out of Wallace Community College in Alabama. Last summer, Anu spent time in the Cape Cod League where he battled hamstring injuries throughout the summer, but still managed to show off his high ceiling toolset. He is the son of an Olympic sprinter and is normally a 6.5 60-yard runner. In the batter's box, he showed plus to better power from both sides, generated with strong wrists. With plus bat speed he flicks his wrists and the ball jumps off his bat. However, he does struggle with offspeed, striking out 33 times in 105 regular season at-bats with just one walk. He's also a plus defender who can run it down in the outfield when fully healthy. The 2 time JUCO All American is in his first season at the University of Kentucky where he appeared in all 17 games including 12 starts. The junior had an instant impact with the bat as he was batting .294 with a .971 OPS for the Wildcats. The switch hitter had 2 doubles, 1 triple and 3 homers in the shortened season.
8/19/19:Strong and super athletic, switch-hitterOraj Anu(Kentucky, 2020) battled hamstring injuries this summer, but still managed to show off his high ceiling toolset. He is the son of an Olympic sprinter and is normally a 6.5 60-yard runner. In the batter’s box, he showed plus to better power from both sides, generated with strong wrists. With plus bat speed he flicks his wrists and the ball jumps off his bat. However, he does struggle with offspeed, striking out 33 times in 105 regular season at-bats with just one walk. He’s also a plus defender who can run it down in the outfield when fully healthy. After transferring from Wallace CC- Dothan, AL, look for Anu to jump draft boards with improvements to his strikeout rate and a strong initial season in the SEC this spring.

Alabama State commit. Switch-hitting outfielder. Anu is one of the more interesting prospects in the Florida class of 2017. 6-foot, 200-pound frame. Looks like he has put on 15 pounds since the fall, but continues to move very well. Anu can get long on both sides of the plate, but his hands are quick, creating noticeable power from both sides. Did not play this spring, will be interesting to follow as he continues to get more at bats throughout the summer.

Tall athletic muscular live projectable body. A physical specimen and still very young. Crude actions in OF with a lot of arm strength. Above avg ML arm now. Is ambidextrous. Throws RH from OF and throws LH from 1B. Has decent actions at 1B. Swing has quickness and strength. Has big power from both sides of the plate with a lot more power to come. Shows present bat speed. Has a handsy swing. Really throws the barrel. Swing has some length with leverage. A very unique athlete. Ran a 6.5, 60. His tools will profile more in OF. Has tools to become a 2017 draft. Will benefit from reps and instruction. Very high ceiling. Mother was an Olympic sprinter and Father played football at UF. Is homeschooled and doesn't play on a HS team in the Spring. Will play travel ball in summer.
