Coming off a strong performance in the Adidas Three Stripe, the 6-foot-3, 180 pound lefty continued to impress on the mound. Fastball ran up to 81 with solid command. Has very good feel for curveball that worked low in the zone at 66; spotted up ahead in count. Stat line: 5 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 55 pitches; very efficient outing.

6-foot-3, 180 pounds; long, lankyprojectable frame. Clean arm from a H3/4 slot; slight hesitation on arm draw. Works down the mound gets out in front upon release. Consistent arm that has been impressive in previous PBR events. FB ran up to 81, but there is plenty in the tank. Curveball had big shape at 67-68. Changeup has shown to be a useful pitch in the arsenal, in the past.

6-foot-3, 180-pound, long, lanky left-handed pitcher, projectable frame. Long arm action, shows on the back-side, ¾ slot. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands square, finishes crossing over. Fastball sat 76-78, touched 80, sinking action. Slider, 1/7 shape, flashed sharp break, 66-68. Changeup, sinking action, 64-66. Feel for three pitches.
Deep South Invite 10/14/18:
Cole is a rangy young left-handed pitcher with very good ingredients and projection on the mound. We have had a chance to see McDaniel toe the rubber numerous times and he continues to be a player we are keeping a close eye on in the 2021 class. McDaniel's traditionally pitches with very good angle and extension to the plate and uses a tight window for all three of his pitches for good deception. At the Deep South Invite Cole worked more underneath the baseball more than usual, and fell off to the third-base side on release. This cost him extension to the plate and did not allow his fastball to play as well as in earlier outings. His fastball topped out at 79 MPH and sat in the (77-78) range. Have no doubt in this young left-handers projection and ingredients, and will benefit from a good off-season of strength training. We will be keeping a close eye on McDaniel this Spring, as it is just a matter of time before we see his stuff start to climb. Very good ingredients in length, delivery and ability to pitch.
Peach State Games 8/11/18:
2021 McDaniel's 6-foot-2 frame plays more like 6-foot-4 due to his impressive wing-span. He creates consistent downhill angle to the plate from his high-3/4 arm slot. He is still not nearly as strong as he will be and he has the build to carry more weight. His fastball sits in the mid-70's, but the hitters take swings that tell a different story. His curveball has shape and he can locate it for strikes. This pitch is also more effective than the radar gun would lead you to believe. The change is probably his second best offering and at this point and he also shows feel for the zone with it. Not only is he showing he can get outs without overpowering stuff, but it is easy to see that their is more in the tank. The next year he will need to start adding strength, to make some of the projection come true, but talent and unteachable frame are definitely present.
North Georgia Trials 6/18/18:
McDaniel sports a 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame that is very projectable with long arms and legs. He has a clean arm swing and gets downhill from a high-3/4 arm slot. His fastball sits (74-75) and feel confident more is coming. He shows very good shape to a curvball (62-64) that he lands consistently and also features a changeup (67-68) that he has advanced feel for, and will continue to come as he shows more commitment to it. He has the ability to use all three pitches and does it with ease of operation. Offensively McDaniel has a nice easy left-handed stroke. He sets-up straight away and shows a nice fluid level swing through the zone. He also shows good bat-speed with an exit velo of 81 mph. Though McDaniel's future is most likely to be on the mound, he shows feel and attributes of a quality hitter. Overall, McDaniel has an interesting future on the mound with very good feel and projection to what he does. Will be a close follow going forward.
