This young shortstop prospect made a strong impression at the Deep South.  Even though we have seen Scalese a good amount over the summer, it was great to get an up close and personal look at him against older competition.  Scalese delivered on both sides of the ball, defensively he has some actions with good feet and an accurate arm.  While he has good balance and use of his lower half at the plate.  Scalese showed a strong all fields approach both in batting practice and in the live game.  Scalese uses a slight leg kick to load and would like to see more rhythm and load from his hands, but he is effective.  This is a really good looking young infield prospect, that will be watch closely over the coming years.

Scalese, 6-0 155, the third of what is an impressive group of INF for the Jackets 15U squad. Scalese impressed with the bat as well as showing off the speed in his own right, he went sub 14 on a stand-up triple in the right center gap. The frame projects to fill out and more speed to come as he gets stronger and mature. He showed good barrel control and some whip in the swing

5-foot-11, 150-pound shortstop and right-handed pitcher, long, athletic frame, projectable build. Stood out at the plate and in the field. Offensively, hit out of the three hole for the Tigers, only saw hitting from the left-side, showed a smooth, athletic swing, gap-to-gap type hitter and with pull-side power. Defensively, arm works long on the infield, throws were accurate with carry, has the arm to stick on left-side moving forward. Did not witness pitch, but arm strength exhibited from SS indicate there is talent on the mound.
