Uncommitted. 6-foot-5, 185 pounds. This player is a great example of the insane depth in the 2024 class. Built like a skyscraper, this is easily one of the most projectable arms in the state. But he’s far from just a projection guy. Burke has an advanced feel to pitch and is a strike thrower, which is absolutely shocking to see in such a frame. He established control of the game immediately, peppering the top of the zone with his carry FB that averages 20 IVB. I didn’t see one FB get barreled in his outing, as he produced a plethora of foul backs and whiffs up in the zone. The pitch was like an automatic 0-2 count, followed by his nasty sweeping CB that showed 2 plane depth consistently. But he showed the feel to do the same thing with the CB, as he produced multiple 0-2 counts from the pitch alone in the first two innings. Burke uses his length to his advantage, with his vast stride creating extra torque in separation. His chest gets over the front knee very well near release, combining with the lengthy stride for well above average MLB extension. This plays up all 3 pitches, and the CH he threw INN 2 was the preview of a whole new evolution of pitcher he’s turning into. The pitch seemed to not only resist gravity with absolutely eye opening fade, but got some last second depth and was painted perfectly at the bottom of the zone on the arm side edge. Not only does the pitchability get better every time we see him, but he’s only at the ground floor of his velo ceiling. The stronger he gets, the harder he’ll throw. This is one of my favorite under the radar draft follows for next year.
