6/3/13 - Solidly built 5-foot-11, 185-pound left-handed hitter. Coppin was clearly one of the most impressive hitters in the tournament. He’s patient yet aggressive, has discipline, barrel whip through the zone and, most importantly, he puts consistent barrel on the baseball. In two games he went 2-for-3 with four walks, and three RBI. His opposite-field single against the hard-throwing Kyle Pruemer on the outer half of the plate drove in the eventual game-winning run in the third inning of the Lions’ 2-1 upset against Teutopolis. In the championship game, he went 1-for-1 with a two-run single and was walked three times, including one intentional. Coppin is a natural catcher, but was the Lions’ starting shortstop. And although it’s not his natural position, he made every play hit his way.
