PREP BASEBALL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Prep Baseball internship provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to learn and enhance their skills in a variety of areas surrounding the game of baseball. Scouting is our forte, and while there are many opportunities to learn scouting and scouting terminology we also provide opportunities for sports marketing and sports journalism, while also receiving a platform in which interns can network with individuals from the scouting and college recruiting community. This internship will involve coverage of mostly Illinois and Wisconsin prospects, but also be involved in more national events.

SCOUT APPRENTICESHIP

Internship Description:

If you are looking to break into the scouting community and learn the ropes from one of our seasoned Prep Baseball scouts, then this internship is for you. Ideal candidates are looking to complete an internship and already have experience and working knowledge in the game of baseball. Apprentices will be groomed to ultimately be sent out on their own to scout games and showcases while learning to construct scouting reports, record video and grade skill sets.

Responsibilities:

  • Scouting and covering Prep Baseball tournaments at both of our summer locations (Rantoul, IL & Franklin, WI)
  • Shadowing a Prep Baseball scout as you learn the intricacies of scouting
  • Maintain a presentable appearance and attitude while representing Prep Baseball at events and tournaments
  • Learn to compose scouting reports from events and tournaments
  • Cover tournaments via social media and produce reports
  • Learn to evaluate players at showcases
  • Assisting in running our various Prep Baseball showcases throughout the summer
  • Completing other tasks related to post-event content for both tournaments and showcases

Requirements:

  • Ability to work long hours, weekends and travel
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong knowledge of the game of baseball

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous playing or coaching experience
  • High level of work ethic

DIGITAL MEDIA INTERN

Internship Description:

We are looking for a motivated individual to help with the coordination and execution of social media and content campaigns. The desired candidate will work closely with current staff on a strategy for X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. The position will also work with our maintenance of our website, and design graphics for our website and social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the content and social media team to provide regular website maintenance
  • Create graphics for our website and social media channels
  • Post videos, clips, stories, or other related things to our social media platforms
  • Input scouting reports into a player’s Prep Baseball profile
  • Cover tournaments and produce reports
  • Learn to evaluate players at showcases
  • Produce written content for the website

Requirements:

  • Strong communications and organizational skills
  • Effective writing skills
  • Basic knowledge of our social media platforms
  • General knowledge of baseball

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in social media and marketing.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, preferred but not required
  • Currently working towards a degree in business, marketing or sports management.

CONTENT CREATOR

Internship Description:

We are seeking qualified students in film and videography who look to further a career in digital media. Qualified candidates would be responsible for taking video and photos at our Prep Baseball showcases, editing work and the creative initiative to produce promotional digital media.

Responsibilities:

  • The videographer/photographer will work closely with the content/social media team to create promotional videos for our social media platforms
  • Shoot and edit high-quality videos, both long and short form, for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X
  • Capturing Unforgettable Moments: Utilize your photography skills to capture shots that highlight the players, our partners, atmosphere, and the overall Prep Baseball event experience
  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep a pulse on current trends in both short-form video and photography, implementing innovative techniques, effects, and formats to keep our content fresh and relevant. Conduct on-field interviews (both fun and serious!), mic players and more
  • Assist with editing clips for The Bullpen podcast
  • Archive and organize all footage and material

Requirements:

  • Must reside in Illinois and have reliable transportation in the Chicagoland area throughout the internship
  • Strong knowledge of all social media platforms
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work weekdays and weekends as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience creating content for different social media platforms, preferably in sports.
  • Understanding of Adobe Products (Premier, Photoshop, etc.)
  • High-quality camera for taking both video and photos
  • Have a drone? Bring it along! Take advantage of aerial photography and videography to capture incredible views and add an extra layer of excitement to our content
  • General knowledge of baseball
