While it is hard to still call SS/3B Ben Canada a helium candidate, he remains as just that for the pro-world after looking like the most polished bat at this event. The batting practice round he put together was my favorite of the day as he worked in-balanced with a behind-but-direct left-handed stroke that went 99 mph off the bat at peak, and 94-plus on average. It is my favorite swing in the class - and the other tools are trending right. He turned in a 6.94 while carrying it across at 90 mph with easy arm strength. While the athleticism is not as advanced as some other shortstop in this tier, the offensive upside is immense and another big spring could push him even higher on our board.
Canada is a bat I am super bulish on coming out of this event. He is 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with projection still left in the frame and a loose, whippy, left-handed stroke. There is some barrel feel with some bat speed & has a chance to grow into at least average to better power with present exits reaching 94-plus. He is sure-handed on the dirt with solid actions in total and I really like how the arm works across, up to 87 mph. He is a below-average runner for now, though the feet play quicker on the dirt, and likely gets faster with added strength/maturity. Huston Dunn offered several similiar traits at the age & is the current comp on Canada.

Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Lean build.
Hit: LHH. Starts balanced with hands back behind back shoulder. Controlled, toe tap stride. Some stiffness in upper half. Hands deliver the barrel on a slightly upward path, good turn behind the ball. Flashes G2G strength, will grow into more.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 77.4 mph. 299' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-79 mph. Loose, whippy arm from an over the top slot.
Defense: Quick, confident footwork with a confident glove. Easy ball to hand exchangeability. Projects up the middle.
ATH: 7.79 runner in the 60.

Hit: LHH. Slightly wide lower half with hands starting way back in stance prematurely achieving shoulder separation. Minimal load into drive leg with a small stride following a toe-tap timing mechanism. Hands stay back throughout load and stride mechanics ready to strike. Lota of torque in the upper body. Rotational athleticism leads to easy bat speed on an uphill plane.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 81.0 mph. 305' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-75 mph. Long, loose arm action from an over the top slot. Shows ability to drop the slot when necessary.
Defense: Feet move with direction, obvious confidence with the glove and devloped ball to hand skills.
ATH: 7.87 runner in the 60.
