6/24/25
Short, compact frame - 5-foot-10, 170 pounds. Quick-paced load, stride with short path. Rotational swing, more pull-side type hitter from the left-side. Shows some ability to lift with more juice than 92 mph peak EV shows. Has a strong track record of hitting. Ran a 6.75 and provides above-average arm strength from the outfield. Profiles as a potential CF, but can play RF. Also can double as a LHP into the mid-80s. Good overall athlete that brings a well-rounded skillset.
5/27/25
+ I caught about 5 at-bats from Ash on a Saturday DH and he showed a couple tools that I've seen consistently across looks in the past few seasons. It is an athletic, 5-foot-10, 170 pound frame with compact strength. He turned in a 6.70 this winter in showcase and got down the line at a 4.24 in this look, establishing an above average to better run tool for the junior class. He has some bat speed within a simple left-handed stroke, but it plays as more of a line-drive, top-of-the-order type mold. His arm is an above average to better tool as well, up to 90 mph in showcase. Overall, Ash possesses at least 3 above average tools for the class, and a left-handed bat, that should garner interest from recruiters on the circuit this summer.
3/18/25

Left-handed hitting athletes are at a premium and Ash fits that mold. He is a 5-foot-10, 170 pounder that ran a 6.70 60-yard dash to begin the day. He hits from the left-side with a short, handsy, on-top swing that produced line drive ball flights at 95+ mph on the top-end. The swing and feet fit a table-setters' mold, while his 89 mph outfield arm is another tool that he provides.

Collin Ash, Roncalli (IN), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-10, 170-pounds. Athletic frame
Hit: LHH. Starts in a balanced, athletic stance with hands near the back ear. Short, compact hand load is paired with a quick leg lift stride. Swings works short to it, direct, gets to extension. Swing is geared towards line drive contact, flashes g2g strength.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 85.1 mph. 307' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-88 mph. Quick, compact arm that works from over the top - arm is best tool
Defense: Athletic mover - plays downhill. Hands work out front, glove actions are soft. Shows feel for a quick, twitchy exchange.
ATH: 6.95 runner in the 60.

6/24/23

Ash was a standout performer on the mound in his outing Saturday night. The lefty changed speeds well throughout the outing and induced swings and misses, as well as weak contact all night. The fastball sat 80-83 mph that had life and arm-side run. The curveball worked from 73-75 mph with 11/5 shape and had out-pitch potential. Ash struck out eight over six innings of work.

6/23/23

Ash found the barrel regularly on Friday from the left side, launching a long ball down the right field line before connecting for a two-bagger in his final at-bat. Finished 2-for-2 with a walk. Athletic build with a balanced load and smooth swing.
