6-foot-2, 165-pound SS / 2B. At the plate, starts with his feet narrow, front foot turned in and hands low; uses bat movement for rhythm and timing; has a small load and a high elbow to stay on top of the baseball. Has a downward swing plane, a clean swing and a level, one-handed finish; hit line drives consistently during the showcase; 86 mph exit velocity. In the field, shows smooth transfer; moves well laterally; gets low on balls. Uses a side arm or 3/4 arm slot to first base; throws consistently; 81 mph position velocity. Recorded a 60 time of 7.16.

4/23/2019 Spring Scout Blog: Uncommitted top 75 player in the 2020 class, Taylor primarily features on the left side of the infield with SS athleticism. Taylor stands 6-foot-2 ,165 pounds. At the plate starts open with a stride towards the plate and uphill swing plane. Average to slightly above average bat speed that can produce line drives. Comfortable hands in the field. Good feet. Able to get to the hole at 3B and rotate body to make a clean, accurate throw to the bag. 

2/16/2019: Cory Taylor, SS/2B, Shelbyville HS, 2020, 6 foot 2, 170 pounds, ran a 6.97, stands open at the plate and uses small stride to get to launch. Path is down to flat producing line drives with a max exit velo of 87. Defensively, Cory had good hands and feet with an average release and used multiple infield slots and arm action lengths depending on the play. Cory threw 82 mph across the diamond.

6/12/2018: 2020 MIF prospect hits from the right side tall slightly open setup in the box. Stride is short to contact point. Uses lower half well in swing. Bat speed was average and posted an exit velo of 82. Bat path was level and long through the zone. Showed ability to use whole field. In the field tended to field ball deep, exchange was clean, footwork was average. Arm strength across the diamond was average at 75.

6/7/2017: 6-feet, 145 pounds.  Ran a 7.26-60. Offensively, hits from an open, crouch type setup. Longer stride, average use of the lower half. Possesses average bat speed with a long path. Consistent hard contact during his BP. High exit velocity of 78 mph. Sure hands defensively, average footwork. Long, low 3/4 arm action, throws topped out at 71 mph.
