3/07/26

A fundamentally sound player in all facets, Butcher brings an undersized-but-athletic, 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame and quality defensive abilities to the table. He receives at an above average clip & has caught college-level arms for a long time; father is the Head Coach at University of Saint Francis. The glove-to-hand is outstanding and when paired with an 81 mph arm from the crouch, leads to pops into the 1.9s. Balanced right-handed swing is very sound; on-plane and the launch quickness stands out. Exits peaked at 97-plus. Ran 7.11 60 at this event and has been into the 6.9s previously. High-floor player.

10/11/25

Butcher made a big impression in workouts while showing off impressive jumps in the toolset. Listed at 5-foot-8, 155-pounds, his 98+ mph impact in batting practice well-surpassed expectations before he showed off some of the best catch-and-throw abilities amongst uncommitted '27s in the state. He can flat out receive, with a high motor shown to pair with a commanding presence, and the glove-to-hand in the transfer led to pops as low as 1.89. A 6.9 runner - Butcher then took to gameplay to show off his hit-ability and defensive prowess. He showed no issue catching up to upper-80s velocities with a pair of extra-base hits, and also nabbed a couple of would-be base stealers during the gameplay portion while blocking up several errant pitches throughout the day.

6/24/25

Advanced defender, can really receive. Mobile hips and soft hands allow him to get underneath balls below the zone. Glove-to-hand leads catch&throw skills, average to a tick above arm strength (76 mph) present. Offensively, hits from a wider base with simple, repeatable moves. More of a linear type operation, connected turn & works to extension. Shows feel to hit, turned around two of the hardest throwers in his session. Skill over twitch type prospect, plenty of room for physical development in the 5-foot-8, 155 pound frame.
