2/22/14: 6-foot-2, 180 pound junior was 1.98-2.10 with his pop times at the event. Casey is an average receiver. Drops hands during the exchange. Throws from a ¾ slot. Was 75 mph from the crouch. At the plate, starts wide with a short stride. Uses a simple load back. Displayed good use of his lower half and stays balanced throughout. Bat speed is above average. Possesses gap to gap power.
2/23/13: 6-foot-1, 170 pound sophomore was very impressive defensively. Casey showed advanced footwork for his age combined with above average arm strength to show pop times consistently in the 2.0-2.1 range. Casey’s throws were straight and consistently around the bag. At the plate, he gets his front foot down early and creates a small hitch prior to swing. Maintains good balance with a good lower half. Swing plane is slightly uphill creating good lift.
Casey is a 6 foot, 170 pound C/OF from Bishop Chatard HS in Indianapolis. From the crouch he was 69 mph and was 2.10-2.17 with his pop times. Casey blocks the ball well and shows a quick release. From the OF he was 78 mph. At the plate he starts with a wide base and shows good balance throughout his swing. His swing plane is uphill and pulls most pitches.
