At the plate, starts wide with a short stride. Uses a simple load back. Displayed good use of his lower half and stays balanced throughout. Bat speed is above average. Possesses gap to gap power.
10/19/13: 6-foot-2, 180 pound catcher possesses a long frame. Uses a simple setup with short stride. Hands work and is a high contact hitter. Displays good rhythm throughout the swing. Defensively behind the plate uses a narrow base with some agility. Receives the ball well, but needs to improve framing as he shows some unnecessary movements. Arm strength is above average. Pop times were 2.01-2.08. Interesting follow.

Casey showed advanced footwork for his age combined with above average arm strength to show pop times consistently in the 2.0-2.1 range. Casey’s throws were straight and consistently around the bag. At the plate, he gets his front foot down early and creates a small hitch prior to swing. Maintains good balance with a good lower half. Swing plane is slightly uphill creating good lift.
