7/30/15-Future Games-- Burthay is a 6-foot, 175 pound receiver that shows advanced receiving skills behind the dish. Quick exchange with quick feet. Soft hands when receiving. At the Future Games last August recorded a top pop time of 1.85, an event best. 78 mph from the crouch. At the plate, the right-handed hitter hits from a balanced setup showing above average bat speed with a level path. High exit velocity of 90 mph.
6/25/15: The 6-foot 175 pound catcher showcased plus actions behind the plate. Exchange and footwork are quick. Pop times ranged between 1.86-2.00. Velocity from the crouch was 77mph. Offensively, he hits from a balanced setup. Bat speed is above average. Bat path is level. Exit velocity was 83mph.
2/22/15: 6-foot-1, 190 pound receiver showcased soft hands and quick feet behind the dish. Quick, clean transfer with pop times of 1.93-2.04. Quick out of the shoot. From the crouch was 77 mph with carry. At the plate starts in an open setup, using a short stride. Average use of the lower half. Short, level path to the ball. Stays balanced. Consistent hard contact. Recorded a high exit velo of 84 mph.
7/29/14: 6 foot 1 inch, 190 pounds, 7.44/60, 2.0 – 2.04 pop time, 75 mph throws to second with average carry and on target from a short, quick ¾ arm slot. Athletic catcher that works hard behind the plate. Hits in a open stance with a short stride, lower body strength generates a fast bat on a level plain with a good extension through the zone, he will hit for power.
2/22/14: 6-foot-180 pound freshman was 2.00-2.15 with his pop times. Increased his velocity from a previous event to 72 mph from the crouch. Tends to stands up, and get little off balance on his throws. Transfer is clean but drops glove. Possesses average footwork. Overall good size and frame. Should continue to get better defensively as he matures. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load. Uses a short stride and leg kick. Displayed good balance throughout the swing. Overall good rhythm. Bat speed was above average for a freshman.
9/15/13: 6-foot, 180 pound freshman has a projectable frame. Behind the plate produced pop times between 2.05-2.20. Was 69 mph from the crouch, with a quick release, with quick feet. Overall is raw defensively. At the plate starts tall with a high leg kick. Loads back. Swing plane is uphill, and gets to extension. Has some bat speed (84 mph Exit Velo). A little jumpy in his rhythm. On the mound uses a small pump with a repeatable delivery. High over the top arm slot and short arm action. Fastball was 75-76 mph. Breaking ball was inconsistent at times, but did flash a good one at the event.
