5/12/26

+ RHP Nolan Newell, Crown Point: A highly-projectable arm out of Crown Point standing at 6-foot-6 and 185 pounds. I have seen him now twice this spring, and his velocities have ranged from 80-84 and up to 85 at best. In this look, it was mostly 82-83 with the fastball. He plays the heater up a bit with his ability to spin; two distinct shapes - low-70s CB and low-to-mid 70s SL. Both breaking balls are usable and both have sharp break at times. It is a short/compact, clean arm stroke that is conducive for future jumps as the lower half mechanics clean up. Good follow this summer.

Leaves a winner & due for a tier jump in our next update. Clear projection to the 6-foot-6, 185-pound frame. Has made noteworthy strides over the past 6 months and still has chances for more to come. Tall balance point into a shorter stride while he breaks the hands high for a shorter arm path. Some acceleration as the arm gets to a 3/4 slot. 84-86 mph fastball with occasional cut-life. Showed two breaking ball grips that blended into a similiar two-plane shape at 73-74 mph; spun in the 24-2600 range. Developing upper-70s change. Projection pick who continues to make steady gains.

12/14/25

Intriguing right-hander from Crown Point that holds immense projection in a rail-thin 6-foot-5, 175-pound frame. Moderate lift to a slight inward turn at balance point, short compact arm action works to an over-the-top slot that plays at a 6-foot-6 release height. FB played 82-84 with some life, mixed with a straight change at 75-77 and a low-70s curveball that played with depth and some bite while averaging 2300-type spin.
