10/19/13 - We’ve seen the athletic 6-foot-1, 150-pound Stanek several times this fall. He features a simple, rhythmic delivery with a quick arm and high ¾ arm slot. On Saturday he looked a little tired in his two innings as he worked 81-83 mph with his fastball - below the mid-80’s we saw earlier in the fall. He throws a hard breaking ball at 74-75 and sells his 70-74 change-up well with good arm-speed. When we saw him pitch earlier in the Fall for the Royals Elite Scout team he stood out, making quick work of his 1 to 2 inning stints against the junior college line-ups he was facing. Regardless of what stage of the fall we saw the right-hander he has always brought the same simple delivery, quick-arm and great confidence to the mound. He’s one of the top 2015 prospects in Kansas.
9/18/13 - The Royals Elite squad closed out the game with Stanek who impressed all in attendance as he attacked the strike zone with an 84-85 mph FB and needed just 5 pitches to collect 3 outs (including a strikeout!). The 6-foot-1, 155-pound RHP’s rhythmic, athletic delivery and quick arm closely resemble his brother Ryne's (2013 Tampa Bay Rays 1st Round Pick out of the University of Arkansas). Having seen Ryne throw in the low’s 80’s during the summer prior to his junior year of high school before exploding into one of the top amateur pitching prospects in the nation the next summer, we look forward to following Brendan's progress over the next 12 months.
