Chappell is an athletically built 6-foot-5 210-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and right handed pitcher in Kansas' 2020 class. He ran a 4.41 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts in a tall stance, minimal load with no wasted movement, smooth acceleration through contact with hands, quick bat speed, level through the hitting zone, flashes pull side power, quick bat speed.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, quick transfer and throw, fluid footwork to the ball, controlled actions, arm works, accurate throws, 82 mph positional velocity. On the mound, Chappell has a simple delivery, controlled leg kick, long loose arm action, accelerates down the mound, mostly repeatable delivery, downhill tilt, showed ability to throw three quality pitches for strikes, high left five. Fastball is 78-83 mph, arm side run, late life when located at the knees, thrown for strikes, changeup is 73-76 mph, fading action, near fastball arm speed, curveball is 70-71 mph, sharp at times, 11-to-5 shape, thrown for strikes.

6/5/18 - Chappell is a powerful 6-foot-5 215-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.39 60 and a 5.19 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with balanced stance, in line stride, attacks ball with with minimal load, level path, slight arm bar, showed power to the pull gap with mostly middle of the field and pull side line drives. On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, 76 mph positional velo, clean exchange on time fluid momentum in feet, plays through the ball, accurate throws. On the mound, smooth and controlled delivery, high three quarters arm slot, aggressive down the mound, hands remain high during leg lift, in line down the mound, works downhill, fastball at mostly 81-83 mph, slight sinking action, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, late and gradual break, 68-69 mph, change up at 71-73 mph, near fastball arm speed, down in the zone.

10/22/17 - Chappell is a long limbed and strong 6-foot-4 200-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.60 60 and a 5.21 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, hands separate from stride in load, in line stride, aggressive swing, middle to pull side contact during batting practice, doubled off wall in left and doubled to left-center gap in game.  On the infield, 81 mph positional velocity, short high three-quarters release, quick catch and throw, smooth footwork, soft hands, feet create momentum to throw, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Chappell is a 6-foot-4 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Chappel has a large frame with over the top arm slot, hides ball well, long arm circle, throws with regular effort, repeats release point, throws strikes, works downhill, fastball at 76-78 mph, occasional running actin, commands to both sides of the plate, gradual 12-to-6 shape on breaking ball, 68-71 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 71-72 mph.
