The No. 5 prospect in the Kansas 2027 class, RHP Kam Smith (Girard) had another standout showing on the mound in Tuesday’s look. Listed at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds with plenty of room to add strength and size, Smith was in complete command of both sides of the plate with all three pitches. The sophomore ran his fastball up to 85.4 mph while sitting at 84-85 mph with an average of 2,200+ RPM of spin. His fastball also played with natural carry, averaging 14 inches of vertical break. Smith also spun a curveball at 74-76 mph that reached 2,500 RPM of spin and mixed in a changeup with arm side fade at 74-76 mph.
