Burns is a 5-foot-10 150-pound switch-hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.30 60, a 4.64 home to first and had an 85 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, similar swing from both side, starts in a tall stance, smooth rocking motion to load into back side, minimal hand movement, level path with controlled body, middle of the field approach.  On the infield, short over the top arm stroke, clean arm action, athletic footwork to the ball, transfer on time with feet, mostly accurate throws.

12/17/17 - Burns is a 5-foot-9 140-pound swiching hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.72 home to first and has a 79 mph exit velo from the right side and a 78 mph exit velo from the left side. At the plate, starts with open and wide base from left side and more square on right side, pre-loaded in back leg from both sides of the plate, hands control the bat, level path through the zone, gap to gap approach on both side.  On the infield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, feet create momentum through the catch, exchange on time with footwork, clean exchange. On the mound, Burns has a controlled delivery, throws with regular effort, over the top arm slot, in line down the mound, body stays under control, fastball at 72-74 mph, curveball has 12-to-6 downward action, 61-65 mph, change up thrown with near fastball arm speed, some sink, 66-68 mph.
