6/27/17 - Veltman is a 6-foot 170-pound right handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. He ran a 7.61 laser timed 60 and a 4.50 home-to-first. During batting practice he sprayed line drives, shows a tall stance, simple load, flat barrel path and an exit velo of 85 mph. Defensively, Veltman has a quick arm and release, controls body well, positional velo of 77 mph and pop times ranged between 2.00-2.12 seconds. On the mound, Veltman has a repeatable delivery, commands both sides the plate with his fastball which showed occasional cut and was 80-82 mph. He threw his changeup at 70 mph with near fastball arm speed and showed a sharp breaking ball with 11-5 type action. Veltman showed clean arm action and works downhill.

Veltman comes from an over the top release, controlled delivery throwing with some effort, in line down the mound, fastball at 79-80 mph, sharp 11-to-5 breaking ball, down in the zone, late action, change up at 67-68 mph, near fastball arm speed.
