Tall, athletic lefty came on in relief for an inning against Severna Park. Pitched a clean frame striking out one. Worked down and attacked the zone. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot with long arm action across his body as he lands closed to the plate. Strong lower half drive off the rubber and finish. Fastball sat 79-81 mph and breaking ball was 66-70 mph.
2.12.17 - Goodwin has a lanky, projectable 6-foot-4, 175-pound frame. Very projectable prospect in the 2019 class that has more in the tank and set to make a climb down the road. He has repeatable delivery with tempo. Long, free arm action throwing from a low ¾ arm slot. Quick arm speed through release. Not much lower half involvement. He pitches with regular effort. Could have better posture at release with more intent. Once his body works with his quick arm that should create more velocity. Fastball was 75-77 with run. Change-up is 71-72 with some fade and late sink with near fastball arm speed. . His breaking ball showed tight rotation and late 11/5 bite with near fastball arm speed. Splitter has late dive at 75 mph.
9.11.16: Goodwin has a lanky 6-3 frame with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Low three-quarters arm slot with a loose, quick arm action. Shoulders are slightly uphill and on line as he strides to a square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 73-75, with late run. Change-up was 65-67 with decent armspeed and sinking action. Curveball ran 62-65 with late break and good armspeed. Action was mostly 1/7, showed the ability to change the tilt.
8.9.16 - Long projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 172-pounds. Controlled delivery with nice pace throughout. Longer free arm action and shows arm speed through extension. Gets some lower half involved but could continue to get more. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot and lands square to the plate in an athletic finish. Fastball has slight sink to the pitch up to 75 mph. two seam gets slight run and sink to the pitch. Breaking ball shows 1/7 almost 12/6 action on the pitch with nice rotation and later break and potential. Changeup has dive to the pitch with near fastball arm speed.
