Player Spotlight 

Blaise Wilcenski: RHP/1B, (2021) Brother Rice, MI. Texas Christian Commit, 6-foot-5, 245-pound. Fluid in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 98 mph. Began in an open tall stance with a smooth low load, then used a leg kick. Has a level upward swing plane, explosive bat speed and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls with loud contact. Pull side approach. Showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 85 mph. Athletic on the mound, had a long arm action and an over-the-top arm angle with lightning arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows high effort. In his delivery his balance point is tall with uphill shoulders. Shows a recoil finish. Threw his fastball 86-88 mph; showed decent control and running action with heavy movement. Throws a 12/6 curveball (70-72) that has gradual action and arm side command. Had arm side command and fading action on his heavy changeup (77-79).

Body: 6-foot-5, 245-pound .

Hit: (RHH) Began in an open tall stance with a smooth low load, then used a leg kick. Explosive bat speed. Good extension on his finish, level upward swing. Pull side approach. 

Power: 98 mph exit velocity, average 80.23 mph. 65.20 mph bat speed average. 20.64 mph hand speed average.

Arm: 85 mph infield velocity. 

Pitching: Athletic. Tall-and-fall delivery, high effort. Over-the-top arm angle, lightning arm speed, long arm action. Tall balance point, uphill shoulders, a recoil finish.

FB: T88. 86-88 mph. (Max spin 2191;  Avg 2023). Decent accuracy, running action, heavy movement. 

CB: 70-72 mph. Arm side control, gradual action, 12/6 shape. 

CH: 77-79 mph. Arm side control, fading action, heavy movement.

Pitching: On the mound has a shoulder width base taking a step left sitting well on his legs. Throws from a high 3/4 arm angle. Fastball has big time movement arm side showing a heavy feel. Sharp 11/5 break on the curve, shows a feel for the pitch. Change up was throwing with slightly slower arm speed as the fastball. Easy velocity.

2021 Blaise Wilcenski is physically imposing standing 6-foot-5, 220 pound frame throwing downhill with ease. Pounded the zone sitting 85-88 mph with an 11/5 shape curve and sinking 80 mph change up. Struck out one batter in two innings of work.

Hitting: On the right side sets up with an open stance showing some hand movement and raw power. Hits with some lift to his swing. Drove the ball to LF

Body Type: 6-foot-4, 240 pounds
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Takes a step left working in the middle of the mound using a easy
leg lift waist high throwing from a high ¾ arm angle with little effort.
Fastball: Showed sink that will produce a lot of grounders 83-85 mph.
Curve: Slowed arm slightly on the breaking ball with a gradual break 66-67 mph.
Change up: Change up thrown with good arm whip, stayed low in the zone 76-77 mph

Swing Mechanics: Tall stance at the plate keeps hands and weight back. Smooth transition during his load making hard contact.
Hit: Hands move through the ball on a upward plane.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity with more in the tank. 
Run: 8.30 runner
Field: Agile on his feet moving around the bag. Scoops the ball well and presents a nice target for infielders.
Throw: 81 mph across the diamond.
Defensive Projection: 1B/RHP

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Clean motion he repeats each time throwing from a high 3/4 arm angle with little effort showing minimal leg drive.
Fastball: Fastball was thrown with a straight feel sitting 78-80 mph. 
Curve: Sweeping curve with a gradual break up in the zone 70-73 mph. 
Change up: Slowed arm slightly to throw a sinking action change up 71-72 mph. 

Swing Mechanics: Bounces the bat using a tall stance with balance. Long front leg stride throwing his hands, showing a powerful hip rotation. 
Hit: Shows fast hands at the plate with the ability to drive through the baseball. Showed raw pop. 
Power:  92 mph exit velocity.
Run: 8.00 runner
Field: Light on his feet around the bag fields the ball into his body. 
Throw: 82 mph across the infield.
