5-foot-11, 175 pound two way prospect. On the mound, the southpaw throws through a high 3/4 slot with long arm action. Displays quick arm speed, and is a max effort type pitcher. Still working on throwing his 83-85 mph fastball consistently for strikes. His 68-69 mph curveball displays early breaking 12/6 action. His best offspeed pitch is his 69 mph changeup that features plus sink. Ran a 7.38 60 yard dash time. At first, he offers a quick exchange and release. Shows softness in hands, and plays well around the bag. Topped out at 73 mph. At the plate, he uses a closed stance with short stride. Features linedrive type ability with some occasional gap pop. Slightly uphill bat path. Reached a top exit velocity of 77 mph.
6/25/13
Gwizdala is a smaller lefty at this point standing at 5-foot-11, 184-pounds. Still has room to stretch out. Arm works well. Hides the ball well. Created good angle and deception. Some cut to the fastball. Fastball topped out at 81mph and sat between 79-80mph. Breaking ball spins well with 12/6 action. Harder tighter spin (69mph). Carried himself well. Seems to be driven and have good makeup. Controlled delivery with quicker arm.
Long arm action at first. Over the top slot. Picked everything on defense. At the plate is closed off to start. Can pick up some pop by incorporating lower half. Line-drive swing right now.
