Player Spotlight 

Matthew Fountain: 1B/RHP, (2022) West Bloomfield, MI. 6-foot-7, 185-pound. During batting practice, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 87 mph. (59.92 mph bat speed average). (19.51 mph hand speed average). In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 81 mph; showed hard hands. From the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 84 mph; has choppy footwork, and a lengthy exchange. Movements laterally were developing and he fields the ball out front. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.39. On the mound, had a long arm action and an over-the-top arm angle with good arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher who uses high effort. Showed falling off shoulders. Displayed a falling off finish Changeup (74-75 mph). Sat with his fastball at 78-81 mph with a max of 82 mph; shows some action and consistent command with heavy movement. (Max spin 1907; Avg 1783). His slider (68-70) showed tight action and low in the zone control. (Max spin 1889; Avg 1813).

Defense:  (IF) Hard hands. (OF) Choppy footwork, lengthy exchange.  Laterally, movements were developing and fielded the ball out front. 

Arm: 81 mph infield velocity. 84 mph outfield velocity. 

Speed: 7.39 (60-yard).

Pitching:  Tall-and-fall delivery, high effort. over-the-top arm angle, good arm speed, long arm action. Falling off shoulders, a falling off finish.

FB: T82. 78-81 mph. (Max spin 1907;  Avg 1783). Consistent accuracy, some action, heavy movement. 

CH: 74-75 mph. 

SL: 68-70 mph. Low in the zone command, tight action. (Max spin 1889; Avg 1813).

Matthew Fountain: 1B/RHP, (2022) West Bloomfield, MI. 6-foot-7, 175-pound. Athletic at the plate, Fountain had an exit velocity of 81 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a wrapping load, then used a long stride. Bat speed is above average and uses an upward swing plane. Created a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 84 mph. Behind the plate, shows firm hands, and rhythmic feet. Some accuracy to the bases, used a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.65. On the mound, curveball (68-69 mph), changeup (75-76 mph), slider (70-72 mph).Sat with his fastball at 80-81 mph with a max of 82 mph;

Hit: (LHH) Begins in a balanced stance with a wrapping load, then uses a long stride. Above average bat speed. Pull side approach. 

Power: 81 mph exit velocity, average 71.58 mph. 61.29 mph bat speed average. 19.90 mph hand speed average.

Defense: (C) Firm hands, rhythmic footwork. Projectable.  

Arm: 84 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, some accuracy. 

Speed: 7.65 (60-yard).

FB: T82. 80-81 mph. (Max spin 1928;  Avg 1795). 

CB: 68-69 mph. 

CH: 75-76 mph. 

SL: 70-72 mph.

Pitching: On the mound a high waist, long leg RHP throws from a high 3/4 arm angle showing a feel for his fastball working the outer half of the plate. Slider with a gradual break thrown for a strike. Two-pitch mix on the bump.

Hitting: At the plate sets up with a balance stands turns his upper body any word wow turning his hips while he swings the bat aggressive through the zone. Shows a top hand release after the point of contact sprayed the ball to all fields.

Fielding: In the infield a long wiry frame prospect covers the ground well fielding the ball out front while creating a throwing lane across the diamond. Threw 81 mph.
