On the infield fields the ball up into his body throwing with a 3/4 arm angle. Was 81 MPH across the infield. On the mound closes off his body during his windup throwing out of the 3/4 arm slot. Fastball was 77-80 MPH with cut, curveball was 62-65 MPH with sharp late break and changeup was 68-71 MPH

Matheny is a 5-foot-9, 170 pound two way prospect. At the plate sets up with a bent knees with his feet shoulder width apart. Uses a toe tap load with a slight lift while swinging uphill finishing high. Fields the ball deep by his body, doesn't look into ball into his glove. Throws from a 3/4 arm angle across the infield. On the mound takes a step left closing his shoulder on the pivot prior to reaching the balance point. Delivers with a 3/4 arm angle with cut action 75-78 mph. 10/5 sharp breaking curve 66-68 mph and a 62-67 mph side moving change up.

5-foot-9, 170-pound athletic frame. Right-handed hitter with a spread out stance uses a toe-tap load to generate power. He recorded an exit velocity of 74 mph. In the infield he lets the ball get on him a bit but makes up ground with his footwork after he fields the ball. He threw the ball across the diamond at 74 mph. On the mound he uses high effort and an upbeat tempo in his delivery. His fastball sat 76-79, 11/5 curveball at 66-68, 69-74 with his changeup and a slider at 69-70.
