6/27/17 - Buchinger has a big frame at 6-foot 197-pound right handed hitting catcher and RHP in Kansas’ 2018 class. He ran a 8.48 laser timed 60 and a 4.52 home-to-first. Buchinger displayed an exit velo of 84 mph, line drives to the opposite field in batting practice, simple swing, quick hands. He went 1-for-3 in game action with a single up the middle. Behind the plate, Buchinger has a positional velo of 73 mph with pop times between 2.13-2.34 seconds and mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Buchinger is a strike thrower, accelerates down the mound by driving off his backside. He has an over the top arm slot to command his fastball between 76-80 mph, a changeup with cutting action at near fastball arm speed and curveball that shows 11-to-5 gradual action.

2/12/17 - Buchinger is a 6-foot 197-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 8.22 laser timed 60 and a 4.89 60.  He has a 79 mph exit velo. At the plate, slightly open, short in line stride, hands worked inside ball, gap-to-gap approach, had more solid contact as he gained timing during round of batting practice.  Behind the plate, pop time between 2.12 and 2.23 seconds, 72 mph positional velo, one of the top velos for the event, catches and throws with some effort, sit low in a thin set up, over the top release with some momentum through the catch, somewhat accurate around the bag. On the mound, Buchinger was 77-79 mph with his fastball, some with downhill tilt, comes from and over the top arm slot, throws with some effort, aggressive down the mound, repeats delivery, works the entire zone with fastball, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 59-61 mph, change up has slight sink at 64-66 mph. 

7/19/16 - Buchinger is a 6-foot 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 8.88 60 and a had a 75 mph exit velo.  At the plate, simple and repeatable, balanced stance, shot stride, high finish, gap-to-gap approach. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.03 and 2.10-seconds, 71 mph positional velo, short over the top release, quick transfer, fluid footwork, throws are mostly accurate with carry. On the mound, Buchinger has an over the top release, high leg lift, accelerates down the mound, in-line direction, high number of strikes, fastball at 77-79 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, some with sharp action, change up at 69-70, flashed sink.

5/31/16 - Buchinger is a 6-foot 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 8.39 60 and a 4.71 home-to-first.  He has a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts with an open stance, middle to pull line drives with high finish, body stays under control during swing, Behind the plate, pop times between 2.04 and 2.12, quick transfer and throw, high three quarters release, mostly accurate throws at 71 mph. On the mound, Buchinger has a over the top release, accelerated rhythm in delivery, throws with regular effort, in line stride, fastball at 75-77 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 63-64 mph.
