8/4/18 - Leach is a well built 6-foot-2 200-pounds which fits well behind the plate. He posted the top pop time with a 1.94-second throw to second, his range was 1.94-2.08-seconds and top velo was 79 mph. His throws were accurate and he had fluid footwork on time with his quick exchange. At the plate, he has a smooth load against his back side with limited hand load. Leach showed an aggressive swing speed with some lift to path after contact. He has power to the pull side with a middle of the field approach. On the mound, Leach was up to 88 mph and worked comfortably at 83-85 mph. He is strong bodied and able to repeat his delivery throwing a high percentage of strikes with fast ball and slider. He showed an above average slider at 76-78 mph. It has late action with depth that works under the bat to produce a high number of swing and misses. He finished with three strikeouts in two innings of work.
6/12/18 - Leach is a physical 6-foot-2 198-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 7.70 60 and a 4.94 home to first. He has a 93 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with slightly open stance, minimal hand load, smooth load, attacks ball with quick bat speed, loose hands, level path, showed pull side power, mostly middle to pull side line drives. Behind the plate, pop times between 1.97 and 2.10-seconds, 76 mph positional velocity, quick transfer on time with footwork, works through the ball, over the top release, aggressive, accurate throws, some with carry to the bag. On the mound, Leach has a strong build and shows good arms strength, works with a smooth tempo and athletic leg lift with slight rotation, loose high three quarters arm slot, works on a downhill plane, challenges hitters with fastball at 85-87 mph, late natural running action, breaking ball is a sharp and late biting slider at mostly 71-74 mph, put away pitch, throws on same plane as fastball.
2/16/18 - Leach is a well built 6-foot2 181-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 4.47 home to first and has a 93 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, bring stride leg to back then back in line to stride, loose and quick hands, hands generate bat whip, aggressive swing with power to pull gap. Behind the plate, pop times between 1.94 and 2.05-seconds, 78 mph positional velocity, balanced set up, over the top release, aggressive out of the crouch, clean transfer with quick feet, throws have carry and are mostly accurate. On the infield, 81 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, fields ball in athletic position, clean exchanges with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Leach has an aggressive tempo in delivery, high three quarters arm slot, in line with level shoulders down the mound, generates power from lower half, showed command of three pitches, fastball worked mostly 85-88 mph, slight late run, breaking ball has sharp action, late, 11-to-5 shape, lands for a strike, controllable change up at 80-82 mph, fastball arm speed, slight arm side run, looks to be a top arm in Missouri’s 2020 class.
