2/2/13: At the Super 60 Pro Showcase, Kaplan showed why he is one the the top players in the midwest. He recorded the third fastest 60 time with a 6.63 and third best outfield velocity at 89-mph. Offensively, Kaplan showed his ability both as a finesse and power hitter who has the ability to use all fields.

6/2/12: The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Kaplan impressed with his overall athleticism and overall tools. Kaplan is a projectable prospect who showed a balanced and quiet approach at the plate and demonstrated a powerful left-handed swing that produced excellent backspin carry. In the outfield, Kaplan was quick to the ball with athletic footwork and showed the ability to catch everything with his momentum coming forward, showing a plus arm (79 mph) with good carry and accuracy. Kaplan also ran a 7.17 in the 60.
