Saturday's starter, Preston Johnson struck out seven in five innings to raise his season totals to 104 strikeouts in 65.1 innings this season. Extra large-chested and nicknamed "Beef", the right-hander's 92-94 mph (T95) fastball plays up thanks to efficient spin and an IVB into the low-20s. The third-year sophomore also threw two breaking balls in his above average 74-78 mph curveball that showed good depth and generated four whiffs in 14 (29%) offerings and an average slider in the low-80s that garnered eight whiffs in 33 (24%) tosses.
