A lean 6-foot-1, 165 pound projectable frame. Ran a 7.20 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box in a tall stance with the back elbow slightly up. Takes a short stride toward the pitcher before attacking the baseball. Gets into the hitting zone quickly, slight lift at the point of contact. Finished with a two hand finish. Displayed consistent hard contact during the hitting portion. Exit velocity was 79 MPH. Defensively- Aggressive to the baseball. Displays soft hands and low base when fielding the baseball. Smooth transition to a quick release. Displayed strong throws from a ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity across the infield was 81 MPH. Pitching- Works mainly from the left side of the rubber. Displayed an easy loose arm. Repeatable delivery with smooth hand separation from the balance point. FB peaked from a ¾ arm slot at 76 MPH. CB has an early break at 65-66 MPH. Showed feel for a 71-73 MPH CH. On the mound, the 2020 graduate has a lot left in the tank. Overall the dual player is a must follow. Some added strength and development should see major improvements going forward.

At the plate he uses an even stance, upright, on the pitch he strides for getting his weight over his front side before his hands drop into the contact zone.  Hand stay closed talk to his body barrel tries to get mostly level through the zone, full finish, exit velocity of 79 mph off of tee, more strength gains to come as he physically matures. Defensively, works to the ball with aggressive footwork, fields slightly deep into his stance, fast release from a high 3/4 slot, arm strength was 75 mph across the Diamond. Good looking  Prospect to follow this summer.

Slender 5-foot-7 and 130 pound middle infielder who ran a 8.01. Offensively- Narrow and slightly open setup with a toe-tap stride that works back to even and forward. Bat starts flat on the shoulder with a slight take back and lift. Lower half works well; some lift in swing with flyball/line drive results from the middle to his pull side gap. Exit velocity was  70 MPH (Up 3 MPH). Defensively- Upright setup with active prep steps; works through the ball well with a quick transfer and release from a traditional infielder's arm action. Athletic actions with clean throws; arm strength will come with physical maturity, presently 68 MPH (Up 3 MPH).

Diamond Pro Workout (January 2017)

Hicks checks in at 5-feet-7, 130 pounds on a long leg, short torso frame.  Ran a 4.46 from home to first.  Offensively- Begins with an open stance, feet shoulder width apart. Hands are level with back shoulder and bat at a very flat angle.  Uses a toe tap stride, lands closed.  Uses a double hitch with his hands to get bat in position to hit.  Swing is slightly linear as he attacks the ball out in front of his body, producing 67 MPH exit velocity.  Allowing ball to travel longer would allow him to stay inside ball better and create more strength through contact. Defensively- Approaches the ball with smooth and athletic actions.  Sets up wide and bent at waist, which forces hands back between feet.  Hands are soft and confident.  Uses a double foot-to-foot shuffle to get good momentum towards his target, resulting in 65 MPH throws.
