Call to the Hall (July 24, 2018)
Athletic build at 6-foot-0 175 pounds; the southpaw works from the glove side of the rubber repeating a compact delivery; arm action is long working through a high 3/4 slot. Works over a firm front side with extension out in front with a balanced finish. Fastball sat 85-87, touching 87 MPH with a  2-to-8 CB with depth at 74-76 MPH, a legitimate out pitch. Flashed his change up at 77-78 with some feel. Has an idea on the mound with advanced pitchability. Frame and arm action will support additional velocity gains.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Scherrer stands 5-foot-11, 175-pounds with an athletic frame, strong and lean build. Last we saw Scherrer he was sitting 83-85 with clear signs of more to come from the CNY left-handed prospect. Those signs came to light Feb. 19 at our Preseason West event where Scherrer sat 87 mph (peaking 88) from a smooth tempo high 3/4 slot. He uses a firm back side that provides a strong push from a slightly leaning front side before release. The stride length is average, possibly some more hip mobility would only increase his velocity numbers, but overall very impressive arm-speed and action on his fastball. Curveball sat 72-74 and at times shows depth with late action. Two days after the event he committed to Albany. Overall, there's still more to come in terms of velocity and feel from the 2019 lefty.
Procase (June 26, 2017)
5-foot-11, 155-pounds with a high ceiling on the mound. The lefty uses a loose arm-action with minimal effort, fastball jumps out of the hand sitting 83-85 mph with clear signs of more velocity to come. Sweeping slurve type shape 70-74 at times loose. Recently decommitted from Stony Brook and is wide open on his recruitment.
Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)
The Stony Brook commit stands 5-foot-11, 150-pounds with a lean athletic build. Clean simple mechanics, high knee lift, loose arm-action with quick handspeed, high 3/4 slot with a fastball already sitting 80-82 mph with velocity projection. Slurve sits 68-70 with late 2/7 shape.

Last Chance Preview (October 30, 2016)
Scherrer, an impressive 2019 left-handed pitcher/outfielder currently ranked as the top prospect at LHP position for the class of 2019, stands at  5-foot-11 and weighs 150 pounds with plenty of room to and time to grow, ran a 7.4 60. Pitching- Starts from the third base side of the rubber, hands chin height and in front of the body. Gets to the gathered position using a slight drop step towards the third base line while the pivot foot drags a bit more to the third base side and is on a slight angle against the pitching rubber. Has good balance with the lead knee getting chest high and a stable back leg. Separation is clean and in sync with the lower half. Lands very stable with the knee in line and on the ball of the foot. Fastball was impressive, with an over the top delivery creating good down angle movement, at 80 MPH showing plus command throwing to both corners in the lower third of the zone. Curveball showed quality action, 2-to-7 action with tight spin, topping out at 65 MPH. Mechanically could stay tighter with the lead arm when throwing the curve which would create more extension and consistently. The change-up showed quality depth and a good differential from the fastball at 68 MPH.
