The 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed continues to develop nicely on the mound. The delivery is online with his feet, and the slot is above 3/4. The glove side has pull to it and the back leg sinks a bit as he makes his way into foot strike. Occasionally runs away from his arm. The fastball sat 87-89 mph with arm side action. The slider is trending the right way, 77-80 mph. Showed a changeup in warm ups as well.
April 2018
The 6-foot-2, RHP threw 7 innings in a no decision versus Shenendehowa. Effectively mixed a FB that sat 84-86 MPH and a CB and CH that kept the batters off balance recording 9 K’s. Only gave up 4 hits but surrendered 5 BB. A fun player to continue to watch develop as his frame suggests that there is more in the tank.
PROCASE
6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. Excellent looking athlete who pitches out of a plus ¾ arm slot. The fastball touched 86 mph with arm side run. I have seen him previously touch 90 mph last summer. The spin pitch is slurvy, touched 74 mph. The spin can be shortened and become a wipeout slider. The changeup was 74 and has wide spin and fade. Needs to stay above the changeup, occasionally pushes it. The delivery is online, and the feet work with good direction. There is a collapse of the backside as he makes his way into foot strike. Staying taller on the back leg should allow him to get better extension, velocity and plane on the ball. The arm is very good, and he should be a draft next spring with the proper development
ENY All-Star Games (September 17, 2017)
Brown stands an athletic 6-foot-2, 180-pounds with a frame able to hold more weight as he physically matures. Pitching- His delivery is up-tempo, high knee lift, hands high. Drives forward with straight direction, uses hip and shoulder separation, long stride with a quick long arm-action, evidence of above average external rotation flexibility. Fastball jumps peaking at 86 MPH, fastball is best when he gets it to his opposite arm-side. Appears to use more of a slider type breaking ball, firm at 73-75 with tight spin, quick 11/5 shape. Changeup stays to the arm-side with gradual fade. Brown will be an interesting arm to follow closely this spring.
Campus Series-Albany (July 18, 2017)
Prototypical pitcher's build at 6-foot-2 180 pounds. Pitching- Showed an ability to repeat his delivery starting on his arm side pivoting to center rubber with an angled drop step. Drives up to a belt-high balance point; long and loose with arm action working through a 3/4 slot. Lands soft, working through a firm front side finishing square to the plate. Fastball had easy life with late arm-side run sitting 83-85 MPH, touching 86 MPH.Curveball has down action with some 1-to-7 shape to it at 72-73 MPH. Feel for his change up, although a touch hard at 77-78 MPH but held it's plain and was more then serviceable. High end follow for the class of 2019.
