Physical: XL 6-foot-3, 230lb frame with raw strength in all phases. 7.14 runner at that size.
Offensively: RHH - Slight bend in the knees with rhythmic hands playing loosely at the shoulder. Utilized a simple leg lift stride to initiate the swing through a flat path towards a two-handed finish on the backside. Stayed within the body well and controlled the torso, generating good backside power to the RCF gap as well. Recorded a T98 mph bat-exit velocity with wood (93 mph AVG) and worked up to a 392 foot distance on his best barrel. A 75% hard hit rate ranked highly amongst his peers at the event.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured a sturdy, traditional setup with a calm, soft glove hand on the receive. Pop times ranged from 1.89-1.97 with ability to round the hips/shoulders in-line towards the bag. Ran it up to 85 mph from a H-¾ release that flashed significant carry on the way to the bag.
6/25/19
Strong physical build at 6-foot-2,205 pounds. Ran a 7.44 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- The right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance. Slight bend in the knees. Feet shoulder width apart. Starts with his hands just above the shoulder. Loose hands. Displayed natural bat whip into the hitting zone. Ball jumps off the bat. Tons of upside at the plate. Top exit velocity was 8& MPH. Defensively- As a catcher, sets up in an upright position. Wide base. Has above average exchange and a quick release from a high ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity was 76 MPH. Pop time ranged from a 2.32-2.39. Pitching- The RHP displayed a repeatable low effort delivery and a projectable arm . The RHP takes his time to gather himself into a balanced back side and drives downhill with low effort. Smooth hand separation with short arm action. FB has some late action and peaked at 77 MPH. FB ranged from 75-77 MPH. CB has tight spin and ranged from 62-64 MPH. The 2022 Catcher has tons of upside and is a must follow.
2/20/19
A strong 6-foot-2, 205 pounds build. Ran a 7.53 60 yard dash. Offensively- wide setup in the box with a slight bend in the knees. Loose hands and short load before attacking the hitting zone. Slight lift at the point of contact. Hard consistent contact during the hitting portion. Has power potential. Exit velocity 90 MPH. Defensively- sits in a wide stance and presents a big target. Smooth footwork and above average release on throws to 2B. Top throwing velocity was 78 MPH. Average pop time was 2.22-2.3. Pitching- the right handed pitcher displayed a live arm and repeatable mechanics. Drop and drive delivery from a balanced backside. Shows command of a FB topping at 83 MPH with late life. CB is sharp and sat 65-66 MPH. Feel for the CH sitting 64-65 MPH, will slow the arm down when throwing the CH. The 2022 graduate is a must follow going forward.
