A lean 6-foot-3, 175 pounds projectable frame. Ran a 7.70 60 yard dash. Offensively- Presents a tall stance with a slight bend in the knees. Uses a backward stride with loose hands before attacking the hitting zone. Quick to and out of the hitting zone. Balanced throughout the swing with a two hand finish. A lot more in the tank. Exit velocity of 78 MPH. Defensively- Keeps feet together with a big target. Above average transfer with a long arm action on throws. Displays a strong arm on throws to 2B. Pop time range was 2.19-2.23 and a top velocity of 78. The 2020 C has a projectable frame. Some added strength and development his measurables so increase going forward.
8/7/18: St. John Fisher (Campus Series)
Square set up with an upright stance. Level swing thru the zone. Balanced actions with rhythm. Line drive contact during BP. More power to his pull-side. Wide open base defensively, quick transfer with a high 3/4 release, 2.10 pop time to second with 72 mph arm-strenght. Young prospect to keep a close eye on.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Stands 6-foot-1, 171-pounds, from a lean body build. At the plate he uses an upright stance, back load for timing with a front stride. Weight transfers forward, hands drop to the contact zone from an uphill barrel plane, after contact he uses a full finish, 73 mph exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, open setup with soft receiving, footwork is average, hands gets to ear and releases from a high 3/4 slot, 69 mph arm-strength with a 2.22 pop time, mostly accurate throws to the bag. Added arm-strength will help take his game to another level.
Diamond Pro Workout (January 14, 2017)
Jackson has a long and lean frame, measuring at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. Was timed from home to first base at 4.68 seconds. Offensively- Starts with feet at shoulder width and slight knee bend. Stance is even and hands are in line with back shoulder. Utilizes a toe tap stride. Hands load back toward catcher and hips rotate toward ball to initiate his swing. Hands get a little away from body at beginning of swing. Extends through contact, creating exit velocity of 71 MPH. Finish is high with hands ending up above front shoulder. repeatable efforts with easy, line drive stroke through the middle of the field. Defensively- Set up is on toes, which makes his crouch high. Body is turned significantly toward 1B. Feet work directly towards 2B on throws. Transfer is smooth and uses a bow and arrow arm action. Pop times were recorded between 2.16-2.18 seconds with a throwing velocity of 64 MPH. Showed quick actions on blacks and recovery. Pitching- Begins with feet at shoulder width and in the middle of the rubber. Legs are straight with hands in front of chest. Takes small side step with left foot to allow right foot to pivot. Knee lift comes to waist height at balance point. Stride is long and stays in line with home plate. Arm action is smooth and long, with hand getting slightly behind body towards 1B. Arm slot is low ¾ with full extension through delivery. Fastball sat in the 68-69 MPH range. Also threw a change up between 61-64 MPH. Would benefit from being more explosive up and over front side.
