2.18.19

A lean wiry frame at 6-foot-2, 160 pounds. Pitching- The left handed pitcher has repeatable delivery and works with tempo. Uses a high leg kick, stays closed on the front side. Smooth hand separation, and balanced finish. The arm is quick and easy. Good FB command which peaked at 74 MPH. Will get around the CB (63-64 MPH) at times. Feel for a CH (66 MPH). the 2021 graduate has the projectable frame to gain some attention going forward. The LHP is a fun one to watch as he continues to develop.

CNY ASG (September 30, 2018)

Wiry frame with projectable build at 6-foot-2, 145-pounds. Pitching – Simple, repeatable motion. Pitches with a consistent tempo to his delivery. Low effort throwing actions. Maintains balance and stays tall on backside. Short, compact arm action from high ¾ slot. Gets consistent extension out front with a controlled, upright finish. Showed the ability to mix all 3 pitches for strikes.

Preseason West (Feb. 19, 2018)

Arvantides stands 6-foot-1, 140-pounds with a super lean build, very projectable with a high waist. Pitching- The lefty uses a slight side-step, high knee lift, hands high. Uses proper drive line, arm-action is back, throws from a high 3/4 slot. Fastball sat 66-67 MPH with arm-side tail. Shows a solid feel for his curveball, sat 59-61 MPH with 12/6 shape and command. Change-up range was 60-61 with one-plane depth. Overall, the size currently is intriguing, added arm-strength will only help the young lefty out of CNY. Excited to see him progress over the next few years.

Winter Open (February 26, 2017)

Arvantides has a slight build with long legs at 5-foot-9 115 pounds. The LHP/1B ran a 7.93 60 and a 4.75 home-to-1B from the left side. Offensively- Sets up slightly open with weight posted on back leg and bat barrel semi-flat. Uses a leg lift for his stride whiles staying behind contact. Swing path is downhill with some leveling late; easy effort with a 2-handed over the shoulder finish. Adapt at staying through the middle with line drive results;exit velocity peaked at 64 MPH. Physical growth and development will play into a repeatable swing. Defensively- At 1B, sets up with a lean at the belt; feet staying moving into the ball. Sits deep in his fielding position with a wide base. Clean with exchange using a longer arm action from a 3/4 slot. Shows good feel around the bag. Arm strength across the diamond was 58 MPH. Pitching- Starts center rubber with an angled drop step to mid-chest balance point. Stays over back leg and closed into landing. Upright finish as he works through his front knee.  Arm action is long and from a 3/4 slot. Showed feel for FB command and secondary offerings. FB sat 61-63 MPH, breaking ball had a slider feel with sweeping left-to-right action at 54-55 MPH. Change up show late down action at 57-58 MPH. Young player with repeatable actions that will grow into his ability.
