Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Stands 5-foot-11, 155-pounds with plenty of athleticism on the field. At the plate he uses a wide set up, front stride for timing, hands drop to the contact zone, barrel path is mostly level through contact with a full finish, exit velocity was 81 mph, up 4 mph since September. Defensively, very active lower half, showing lateral quickness, fields through the ball with an open glove, releases the ball from a mid 3/4 slot with the ability to throw from multi-arm slots, aggressive defender, hard-nosed.
ENY All-Star Games (September 17, 2017)
Rangy 5-foot-11 155 pound middle infielder. Offensively- Sets up even with weight centered along with an upright barrel position. Quiet timing with a straight back load of the hands; balanced throughout contact. Swing path is short with alternating one hand/two hand finishes. Uses the whole field with and exit velocity off the tee of 78 MPH matching his effort back in July. Defensively- Active feet early on during the approach, keeps momentum into throws when moving laterally with a quick release. Accurate throws.
Campus Series-Marist (July 25, 2017)
Zollo checks in at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Righty shows a fluid swing with a level barrel path. Utilizes good lower body rotation with quick hands that can cover the plate well. Hit solid line drives up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice round. Swing is clean and efficient with a lot of room from growth and development with added strength. Recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH, a 1 MPH improvement from February 2017. Defensively- Shows a good approach and footwork getting in front of the baseball. Funnels well into the body with a quick transition from glove to the throwing position. Could use a shorter infielder arm swing to quick up the throw across the diamond. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 84 MPH, a 4 MPH improvement from February 2017.
Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)
Lean/wiry frame with fast twitch actions at 5-foot-10 155 pounds; ran an impressive 6.78 60. Offensively- Even and spread stance with a barrel above head; short take back with and up-down stride that gains minimal ground. Balanced lower half with some aggression; attacks the ball to and through the zone. Peak exit velocity of 77 MPH with middle of the field line drive results. Defensively- Quick first step; moves well laterally. Gets low late with hands occasionally underneath. Good bounce in his step with; builds some arm speed in a hurry with a peak velocity of 80 MPH across the diamond. Game experience coupled with physical development will have him reaching his ceiling.
