Strong frame, well built. Stays behind the ball, gets body through the ball on his throws, arm action is long, smooth throwing motion, 77 mph. At the plate, leverage in swing. Power potential. Aggressive finish with extension. Ball carries to the gaps, impressive 96 mph exit velo.
ENY All-Star Games (September 17, 2017)
Carpenter is a 5-foot-10 178-pound 3B with an athletic frame. Offensively – Carpenter has a balanced stance with his feet shoulder width apart and knee bend prior to the load. His bat movement quiets as he loads by pushing his hands back before moving his bat into the hitting zone. His load involves moving his weight to his backside and a short-balanced foot stride. Carpenter gets his hands through the zone on a level swing path and ends slightly upright with his follow through. He has aggressive hip rotation at the point of contact and makes solid contact. Carpenter finishes high and removes his top hand after connecting with the ball. He has an exit velocity of 93 MPH with a line drive approach. Defensively -  Carpenter has active footwork and presents his glove early prior to receiving the ball. His hand-eye coordination is exceptional, and he shows soft hands as he gathers to make strong throws to 1B. Carpenter can move laterally and shows aggressive techniques at his position. His footwork is consistently prepped to move towards his throwing target. Carpenter has a suitable left side arm across the diamond at 80 MPH.
East-West Battle (July 2017)
Athletic/muscular build at 5-foot-11 183 pounds; balanced setup at the plate with simple timing. Battled Torres, squaring up a 91 MPH FB through the middle (deflected to the 2B) to drive in a run.
Campus Series-Marist (July 25, 2017)
Carpenter stands in at 5-foot-10, 178-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Righty shows a fluid swing with quick hands. Features an upward lift barrel path with good lower rotation using the whole-body in the swing. Demonstrated good plate coverage with solid contact driving the ball up the middle and down the line. Clean swing with good potential with continued development and added strength. Recorded an exit velocity of 85 MPH. Defensively- Good approach and footwork to the baseball. Funnels the ball well into the chest with a good quick transition into the throwing position. Takes aggressive footwork towards intended target with a good infielder arm swing. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 76 MPH.
