Quiet approach in the box, short and compact path, slightly inclined barrel plane with a hard hit line drive over the 2B defender in the first. High motor player; makes the play on the move defensively; spins the double play. Grinds out at-bats; table-setter approach that will play at the next level.


 

 

East-West Battle (July 2017)

Short compact build with a full-time motor. Plays the game hard, shows a clean slick glove, serviceable arm from the right-side. At the plate barrels up balls in the zone consistently, path to the ball is short and level, shows above average speed on the bases.

May 2017

5-foot-8 athletic infielder, shows advanced range, capable of taking away hits up the middle and in the hole between first and second. Smooth fielder who easily gets up from the ground to make plays. Contact hitter with gap power, makes sound two-strike adjustments, hunts fastballs, keeps hands back on breaking ball.


Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)
Brown has a small but strong frame at 5-foot-6, 170 pounds. Had a 60 yard dash time of 7.3 seconds. Offensively- Begins with feet wide and knees slightly bent. Hands are aligned just below back shoulder. Uses a small stride to trigger his swing. Shoulders twist open to allow hands to stay inside ball. Swing plane is flat through his swing. Hips fire through quickly to initiate bat speed. Contact is made in front of body, leaving little room for extension. High, two handed finish with backspin line drives through the middle of the field. Had an exit velocity of 87 MPH off of the tee, up from his previous high of 84. Defensively- Approaches the ball with short, choppy steps. Fields ball with feet wide and knees bent low. Fields ball in front of his body and funnels hands back to mid section. Utilizes a double shuffle to gain ground towards target. Had throws of 78 MPH across the diamond, up 1 MPH from previous best. Low ¾ arm slot.
Diamond Pro Workout (January 14, 2017)

Brown stands at compact/muscular 5-foot-6, 170 pounds. Was clocked at
4.27 seconds from home to first base. Offensively- Begins with feet wide and knees greatly bent. Hands are aligned just below back shoulder. Weight sinks down and over back leg before using a leg kick to trigger his swing. Shoulders twist open to allow hands to stay inside ball. Swing plane is down to ball, creating a chopping motion. Hips fire through quickly to initiate bat speed. Contact is made in front of body, leaving little room for extension. Had an exit velocity of 84 MPH off of the tee. Explodes through the ball with middle of the field line drive results. Defensively- In the outfield, fields ball outside his body with his right foot forward. Uses a large crow hop to gain quality ground towards where he his throwing. Clean arm action led to 80 MPH throws. As an infielder, approaches the ball with short choppy steps. Fields ball with feet wide and knees bent low. Fields ball in front of his body and funnels hands back to mid section. Utilizes a double shuffle to gain ground towards 1B. Had throws of 77 MPH across the diamond with a low ¾ arm slot.
